Insta360 ONE X2 is packed with possibility. In this blog, we’ll show you a ton of things you can do with it. By the end, you’ll see what makes ONE X2 the pocket camera crew.
360 Reframing
If we had to pick one feature that makes Insta360 different. It’s reframing. You can shoot first, then choose your angle later in any direction. This opens up a world of creativity possibilities. Never miss the action, dial in on the detail or get creative with your transitions. You can even pick an aspect ratio after-the-fact to match your favourite social platform.
This can all be done in the Insta360 app. Just open your footage and tap the “+” icon to drop keyframes, the app will then reframe to each keyframe that you dropped in your video.
Steady Cam Mode
If you just want to whip ONE X2 out and shoot, no reframing needed, you can do that too. Steady Cam mode uses a single lens to shoot just like an ordinary action cam. The kicker? FlowState Stabilization. It uses data from both lenses to keep your shot absolutely stable. To do this, just turn on Steady Cam mode on the touchscreen settings. Cool eh?
The Invisible Selfie Stick
No drone? No problem. With the Invisible Selfie Stick you can shoot third person perspectives at the flick of a wrist. Here’s how it looks:
You don’t have to do anything to get these shots either. Just mount your ONE X2 on the selfie stick, it’ll disappear like magic.
Horizon Lock
This one is epic. With FlowState Stabilization, you can totally lock the horizon. That means no matter how you spin, dive or shake, the horizon stays perfectly level. Check it out:
Creative Tricks
There are a ton of tricks you can try that are only possible with an Insta360 camera. Our secret sauce you ask? AI. Here’s a handful of tricks, and we’re always updating the app with more.
Clone Trail
Stop Motion Mix
Bullet Time Mix
And a whole lot more…
The Insta360 App can edit these tricks for you. Just select Shot Lab in the editor and pick a template.

TimeShift
Imagine if you could combine reframing with controlling the speed of your video. Well with ONE X2, you can.
To do this, first drop keyframes in your video using the app, then add speed to the video. You can add segments up to 16x speed, or slow way down to 1/4 the speed.
Freeze Frame
Speaking of speed, we took slow-mo to the extreme with ONE X2. Try Freeze frame in the speed settings on your video to slow your video down to almost a complete halt. Thanks AI.
Fly Through
You wish you were an FPV pilot? Yeah us too, so our engineers developed fly through. With it, you can mimic the effect of an FPV drone flying through gaps in a few taps. Here’s how it looks:
To edit a fly through, just tap the small airplane icon to mark your start shot, walk to the other side of the hole and mark your end shot. The app will auto-stitch these two separate shots together to create a Fly Through.
Deep Track
We took tracking to a whole new level with ONE X2. To deep track, just long press your subject in the app and it’ll lock on, even if your subject goes behind an obstacle. Tracking has never been this easy.
360 Live Streaming
With ONE X2, you can live stream directly to social media. It’s even cooler in 360 where you can choose what your audience sees, or you can let them decide in a full 360 sphere.
That’s Just Scratching the Surface…
That’s already a ton of killer features to take in. However, there’s a whole lot more to ONE X2. A bigger battery and touchscreen, 360 audio, super clear PureShot content and more! To learn more about Insta360 ONE X2, you can check out this link.

That’s cool and all, but it would be even cooler if somewhere in all of google or youtube or reddit or some kind of forum I could find just one video or explanation on how to shoot those shot lab affects, namely clone trail. All I get everywhere is for the one R, or how to edit it on desk top. Surely somebody somewhere could accidentally share how its done. For now, very cool and unique camera, but as of right now, until I get atleast 10% out of it, it’s uselss.
Hi Phil, Sorry for the confusion. Each Shot Lab effect has a tutorial in the app if you go to Stories – Shot Lab – and tap a template. Some tutorials use ONE R as an example, however the shooting and editing process is the same for both ONE X2 and ONE R. Therefore you can just follow the tutorial instructions for ONE R with your ONE X2 and select the 5.7K 360 mode to shoot a clone trail. I recently bought an Insta360 ONE X2 but I don’t know how to use it. At my age I need a one-on-one tutorial and I’m willing to pay for it. If you are interested, please contact me. I live in Newfoundland, Canada, but I suppose the tutorial could be through Zoom or Skype or whatever. [email protected]

I have the extendable selfie stick and the x2, how am I supposed to actually use the camera when it’s on the selfie stick? It has no button or Bluetooth.
Hi Misty, you can connect the camera to the Insta360 app on your phone and control shooting through there. Hope that helps!
All X2s have Bluetooth. But you need a smartphone or tablet to use it. Or you can set a delay on the X2!! Or for video, you can trigger it and position the camera, then clip the video in post, which Insta360 studio allows you to do on a computer.
What an incredible piece of technology, thanks guys!
Does the One X2 have a continuous picture taking mode? For instance snapping a picture once every second, 5 seconds, or 10 seconds?
Hi there, the ONE X2 does not have a continuous picture taking mode.
